This will be our way of documenting our trip to Alaska for ourselves as well as our family and friends.

Hyder Alaska 17 Aug 2019

We actually camped in Stewart British Columbia, but all the action was just over the border in Hyder Alaska - the Salmon Creek, the Glaciers, and the BUS.

There were literally thousands of Salmon in the creek.  The black bears, brown bears, wolves, foxes and eagles all come to feast on the easy pickings.

Also in Hyder there are numerous glaciers.  The famous one is called “Salmon Glacier” (go figure why they gave it that name), but unfortunately the clouds were so thick, we couldn’t see it, but not to be left out, we drove about ten miles further on the mountain roads and found even more glaciers.

The we had to eat at the world famous “BUS”.  A one woman operation that only cooks the fish that her son catches the day before.

To get to Hyder you had to drive across the border into the U.S. with no border guards, but to get back into Canada, you had to go through the Canadian border check point.

To give you an idea about the location of our campground in Stewart, I took pictures looking both east and west at the mountains surrounding us.

The mountain top is behind those clouds.
