Jasper British Columbia 26 Aug 2019

Actually we are in the Jasper National Park staying at the Columbia Icefield Center parking lot (dry camping) so we can go out on the Athabasca Glacier.  This is Lisa standing next to one of the tires of the Ice Explorer that drove us there.

I actually broke one of my own rules about gas - never let the tank get below half full.  I let it get down to one quarter which means the generator won’t run, which means we don’t have electricity for heat.  The temperature only got down to 27 degrees, so two blankets for me was not enough for Lisa - she had four and was still cold.  In the morning I figured out how to turn the propane heater on without the generator, but I won’t live this one down any time soon.

I finally found a wood carving to bring to Mom.  To date all we could find were chainsaw carvings because craftsmen have a hard time selling for a decent price the small carvings for the time they have to spend making them.

A part of the Glacier Adventure was a walk on the “Skywalk” which is a glass walkway over one of the valleys almost 1000 feet below.  I didn’t think Mom would walk it but she did, actually twice because I had to get her to go again so I could get a picture of her out there.  Unfortunately my camera got switched to “effects” so they look a little funny, but here they are:
